Ladd's Cardigan is a top-down cardigan. Its feminine design, which looks like wearing a detachable collar on a cardigan, is perfect for knitting with soft Line Weight yarn.
First, work the back from the bottom up to the armholes in flat knitting. Then, pick up stitches for the front shoulders and shape them with increases on each side, working in flat-knitting up to the armholes. Next, join the front and back to work the remainder of the body in the round. Pick up stitches for the sleeves from the armholes and work them in the round. After picking up and knitting the front band, finish the neckline. Then, pick up and knit the lace collar, and finally knit and attach the i-cord.
